This LAB-AID makes science more interesting and meaningful by dealing with fundamental chemical principles and applying them to products found at home. Most antacids are composed of bases or alkalizing agents.
Students use an over-the-counter antacid (e.g. Rolaids, Tums, etc.) brought from home and perform a neutralizing activity to determine how much acid can be neutralized by a particular brand. After conducting the activities, students make comparisons and draw conclusions about the different brands tested.
This kit is complete for 30 students. Note: This kit does not contain antacids; they must be supplied.
